More Space Saving packing!

Image
Earlier I posted on space saving packing with my son's clothes. Now it's my turn to pack clothes for our vacation. Here is picture of how my suitcase has progressed through my packing. My clothes are on the left and my son's clothes are in the bin on the right.   I have taken the approach to packing my suitcase by stacking clothes together and then using a pair of pants as the envelope to secure everything.                                    I have a stack of shorts and dresses that are going together.   Next I stack all the clothes together and place them in the middle of the pants Folding the pants in half keeps my clothes together and easy to stick in my suitcase like a package.  I was able to put two stacks of clothes into the suitcase. That includes another stack with pants, shirts an PJ's. All I need now is my bag of toiletries and I am set for my trip!   NOW WE ARE READY TO GO!!!!

Organized and space saving packing

My husband and I will be traveling for the first time with our son Leo. I want to make sure our first plane ride with a 6 month old baby isn't going to unorganized and chaotic.  To make traveling easier I have done two things:  I have been making lists of things we need to travel with and things we can buy once we get to our destination. This running list makes it easy to check off what we are bringing and what to bring back when we end our vacation.   I also wanted to figure out how to keep Leo's clothes and accessories organized in our suitcases. We are going to be traveling with only 2 suitcases, we don't want to carry 3 suitcases and pay for 3 suitcases.    Leo's clothes are small so I picked up cloth storage bins to pack his clothes in. I went to Ikea and got  Svira storage bins for $4.99 each. I was able to roll his clothes up into the bin. This will make it easy to take the lid off the bin at our destination and have his clothes togethe

Storage and Organization

Since I having my Son this year I have found that life is busy and hard to keep clean and organized. I tried to prepare my home before my son was born by organizing area's of my house. My first order of business was getting the closet in my son's room organized. I went to Pinterest for closet inspiration. Below are the 2 blogs I found that inspired my son's closet organization. twotwentyone Thisisourbliss We had to space plan the walk in closet in Leo's room before we went out and bought our shelving and clothing rods. We were able to get this closet set up on a budget of $220.00. We went to Home depot and purchased The Martha Stewart 6 cube organizer 6 cube organizer Martha Stewart 9 Cube organizer 9 cube organizer Closet Maid wood shelvin g Green cloth storage bins Putting together the cubes and the shelving unit were easy. It really helped planning of the closet space before we installed. We were able to u

Family Room Renovation

Finished Family Room  Our family room renovation has been a slow process since we moved into our house 3 years ago.  I am sharing my embarrassing photo of what our family room looked like before our Reno. The walls had a stucco like finish on them and some of our furniture were hand me downs. Before moving into our home we lived in a one bedroom condo, so we were very happy with any furniture we could get our hands on.  The first part of our Reno was getting new floors put down through out the house. There were old white square tiles in the house before we had wide plank tiles put down . Before we demolished the walls in this room we covered up our beautiful new floors.  We found wood paneling behind some of the walls and plaster board behind others. The stucco like texture was due to the chicken wire that was also on the wall. Through the demo we were careful to remove the crown molding so we could put them back up once the new wa
