Happy Fall!!!

September 1st inspired me to start pulling out my Fall decorations. I decided to try making Pumpkin Topiaries similar to what I have seen in a couple of stores. 

I made these Topiaries for $15 using items from the Dollar General store. 

Here is the list of items I bought
- 2 Fall leaf garlands 
  - 2 stems of fall leaves 
       - 2 punches of fall bundles
- 6 small pumpkins    
- 2 candle burners      
-1 jar of toothpicks    


 


I was able to pull the leaves off the leaf garland and leaf stems.




I took the bundles of flowers and cut them up to make them smaller.

Place the leaves around the bottom of the candle burner.


I used a hot glue gun to glue the leaves to the bottom of the candle burner.


I hot glued the bottom of the pumpkin to the bottom of the candle burner.




Once the first pumpkin was down I placed leaves around the top of the pumpkin. Once I was happy with the placement of the leaves I hot glued them to the pumpkin.



I used a toothpick to anchor the the second pumpkin on top of the bottom pumpkin.



I used a toothpick again to anchor the third pumpkin to the second pumpkin.

 After gluing the leaves in between each pumpkin I glued the floral bundles to the leaves.

Before Master Bedroom View of the bedroom from the sliding glass door. The bed was on the wall to left of the sliding glass door. Dresser was directly across from the bed. The before issues the couple had with their bedroom was the need to have a bedroom retreat to relax. The room was cluttered, the bedroom furniture was crowding and cramming area's of the room. The color of the room, curtains and bedspread/sheets clashed with the color of the furniture. The room was lacking a unified color scheme. After Master bedroom Shorter dresser now sits on the wall were the bed was placed. The tall dresser went on the opposite wall of the shorter dresser. The wall with the sliding glass door The furniture was rearranged to make the room open and spacious. The furniture was spaced out through the room so not to crowd the space. More Space Saving packing!

Earlier I posted on space saving packing with my son's clothes. Now it's my turn to pack clothes for our vacation. Here is picture of how my suitcase has progressed through my packing. My clothes are on the left and my son's clothes are in the bin on the right.   I have taken the approach to packing my suitcase by stacking clothes together and then using a pair of pants as the envelope to secure everything.                                    I have a stack of shorts and dresses that are going together.   Next I stack all the clothes together and place them in the middle of the pants Folding the pants in half keeps my clothes together and easy to stick in my suitcase like a package.  I was able to put two stacks of clothes into the suitcase. That includes another stack with pants, shirts an PJ's. All I need now is my bag of toiletries and I am set for my trip!   NOW WE ARE READY TO GO!!!!

Hutch Makeover finally finished

Another Thrift Store Hutch Makeover I love thrift store furniture makeovers! The furniture is at the right price and you can let your creativity take over. I bought this hutch for $50 at my favorite thrift store. Instead of sticking to Behr paint like I do with all my projects, I decided to try Devine Color and peel/stick wallpaper from Target. I'm very happy with the results! Here are the before pictures of my $50 Hutch. The color of the hutch wasn't my favorite but I liked the faux Bamboo trim and the Rattan weaving around the cabinet and doors. Before I started the priming and painting part of my project, I took the time and removed all the hardware off the hutch. I took all the hinges, screws and other hardware pieces and gave them a bath in Paint brush cleaner to remove all the old paint so everything looks brand new. Brush cleaner will remove any latex and oil based paint.  I used my new favorite oil based primer
