Rattan Cushion "Re Do"

New bottom cushions for the "Re Do" Rattan chairs



Here is what the before cushions looked like


I used a flat head screw driver and pliers to take out all the staples that held the fabric to the wood board.

 I took the old seat cover and used it to make a pattern to cut out the shape for the new covers.

I went to Joann Fabric and bought new cotton batting to make the cushions soft. 

 Once I cut the pattern for the new fabric going on the cushions, I laid the cushion upside down with the new batting onto the wrong side of the new fabric.

I used a staple gun and went around the entire cushion pulling the fabric around and stapling into place. 


 Here is what the new seat cushion looks like. 
Next I will be making new back seat cushions for these chairs and getting them out on the patio!

    Hi, Can you post some pictures of the chairs with the backs done also? Maybe a picture of all 4 of them together out on the patio? I love following your blog. You inspire me to be a better person!

Before Master Bedroom View of the bedroom from the sliding glass door. The bed was on the wall to left of the sliding glass door. Dresser was directly across from the bed. The before issues the couple had with their bedroom was the need to have a bedroom retreat to relax. The room was cluttered, the bedroom furniture was crowding and cramming area's of the room. The color of the room, curtains and bedspread/sheets clashed with the color of the furniture. The room was lacking a unified color scheme. More Space Saving packing!

Earlier I posted on space saving packing with my son's clothes. Now it's my turn to pack clothes for our vacation. Here is picture of how my suitcase has progressed through my packing. My clothes are on the left and my son's clothes are in the bin on the right.   I have taken the approach to packing my suitcase by stacking clothes together and then using a pair of pants as the envelope to secure everything.                                    I have a stack of shorts and dresses that are going together.   Next I stack all the clothes together and place them in the middle of the pants Folding the pants in half keeps my clothes together and easy to stick in my suitcase like a package.  I was able to put two stacks of clothes into the suitcase. That includes another stack with pants, shirts an PJ's. All I need now is my bag of toiletries and I am set for my trip!   NOW WE ARE READY TO GO!!!!

Hutch Makeover finally finished

Another Thrift Store Hutch Makeover I love thrift store furniture makeovers! The furniture is at the right price and you can let your creativity take over. I bought this hutch for $50 at my favorite thrift store. Instead of sticking to Behr paint like I do with all my projects, I decided to try Devine Color and peel/stick wallpaper from Target. I'm very happy with the results! Here are the before pictures of my $50 Hutch. The color of the hutch wasn't my favorite but I liked the faux Bamboo trim and the Rattan weaving around the cabinet and doors. Before I started the priming and painting part of my project, I took the time and removed all the hardware off the hutch. I took all the hinges, screws and other hardware pieces and gave them a bath in Paint brush cleaner to remove all the old paint so everything looks brand new. Brush cleaner will remove any latex and oil based paint.  I used my new favorite oil based primer
