Jamie Chair "Do Over"

Image
The finished product I bought these chairs at my favorite thrift store for $20. This is the first time that I have used wood stain instead of painting chairs. I used 80 grit sandpaper to remove the previous polyurethane from the chairs. This took time and attention to detail to sand each chair. I decided on Sun bleached wood stain for the chairs. I used an old cloth to rub the stain into the chairs. I also used a paint brush to get into little areas of the chair that I couldn't rub the stain in.  Stay tuned to see all chairs stained and upholstery work on the cushions!

Hutch Makeover finally finished

Another Thrift Store Hutch Makeover I love thrift store furniture makeovers! The furniture is at the right price and you can let your creativity take over. I bought this hutch for $50 at my favorite thrift store. Instead of sticking to Behr paint like I do with all my projects, I decided to try Devine Color and peel/stick wallpaper from Target. I'm very happy with the results! Here are the before pictures of my $50 Hutch. The color of the hutch wasn't my favorite but I liked the faux Bamboo trim and the Rattan weaving around the cabinet and doors. Before I started the priming and painting part of my project, I took the time and removed all the hardware off the hutch. I took all the hinges, screws and other hardware pieces and gave them a bath in Paint brush cleaner to remove all the old paint so everything looks brand new. Brush cleaner will remove any latex and oil based paint.  I used my new favorite oil based primer ...

New life in old Ikea night stands and dresser!

New life in our old Ikea Furniture   The night stands in our Master bedroom are from Ikea and part of the Malm series. We bought our night stands and dressers a couple of years ago when we lived in our condo. They are still in good shape but they are lack luster in our bedroom. What do you do when your husband says NO to new furniture? You make over your current furniture. This project really didn't take much time and money to complete. I was able to get this project completed in 2 days.  To give our bedroom furniture new life I turned to my favorite spot for inspiration Pinterest. There is a company called O'verlays ,this company makes decorative fretwork panels for Ikea furniture. You choose which style of Ikea furniture you have and they give you the options of fretwork for your furniture piece. I picked one style for the night stands and one style for the dresser.  Supplies for this project   1. Zinsser Oil based Prim...
